The Wind Waker Controls
There are many perils and enemies in wait for you in the Wind Waker. In order to survive the Great Sea and it's many islands, you will need to know all of Link's controls. This small guide will help you incase you have lost your original manual.
Control Stick
You use the control stick to maneuver Link. It may take some time getting used to, if you dont normally use an analog stick. All Link's directional movement is controlled using the control stick.
Control Pad
The control pad allows you to toggle options with the current map. The control pad controls the overworld map, dungeon maps, and the Great Sea map.
A Button
The A button is the action button. When pressed, you can talk, read, swim, and perform various other actions, as long as you are near an object to perform these actions. You will notice the action icon at the top of the screen when you can perform an action.
B Button
Once you have a sword, you can press B to use it. There are many different attacks to perform with it by combining directional movements with sword attacks.
X, Y, Z Buttons
You can assign items and weapons you've collected to the X, Y and Z buttons. By pressing one of these buttons, you pull out and use the weapons or item that is assigned to that specific button.
R Button
The R button allows Link to defend himself with a shield and to grab or pull blocks.
L Button
The L button allows you to target certain objects and enemies. This helps you when you are battling an enemy or looking at something from a distance. You also use the L button to face forward.
C Stick
The C Stick is used to maneuver the game's camera angle.
