Twilight Princess Bosses

Bosses in Twilight Princess can be very tricky. This guide will help you find each bosses weakness and provide you with strategies on defeating each boss. When possible, we will provide you with more background information on each boss, but that is not always possible, as with some bosses, there is little information about them.

Forest Temple Mini Boss - Baboon
This mini boss is kinda funny.  He keeps patting his readend to mock you.  Onto the fight; he will use the Gale Boomerang to knock a few enemies from the ceiling.  Dispose of them quickly.  If one happens to latch onto you, use the spin attack to remove them.  The ape will jump from pillar to pillar and eventually pause to throw the boomerang at you if your somewhat close.  When he does, roll attack the pillar he is on to knock him off (it may take two hard rolls).  Once he falls, run in for a few good hits with your sword.  He will jump back up onto the pillars, so repeat this process until you defeat him to claim the Gale Boomerang.

Pick Up the Pace
As this miniboss fight progresses, the Baboon will pick up speed and jump around quicker and faster. It helps to just play observer for a few and watch until the baboon lands, where you can run in to knock him from the pole.

Forest Temple Boss - Twilit Parasite Diababa
First your gonna want to target the enemy in the middle of the screen, not the two large guys here.  Use the Gale Boomerang to pull him in (he explodes like a bomb).  Hold onto the bomb abit away from the water and wait for one of the two baba here to come down and eat it from your hands.    Do this until the two eat the bomb and retract into the water.

Now, a large baba will emerge along with the last two, and so will the monkey that likes to slap his behind.  Target the monkey and use the Gale Boomerang to snag the bomb.  Wait for the two baba to eat it once again and its you and the larger guy left.

Now, your gonna want to get into first person with the Gale Boomerang.  Target the Ape first and lock on, then the large Baba and lock onto him.  Throw the Gale Boomerang and it will snag the bomb from teh baboon, delivering it the Baba, exploding on contact. He will return with his two smaller friends again.  Repeat the process for an easy win.  There is grass and pots nearby if you need hearts.

Goron Mines Mini Boss - Hero's Bow Guardian

This guy is an overgrown meat head with one thing in mind - to smash you!  He will jump to the arena breaking the chains and sending your safe footing to the lava.  Put on the Iron Boots and start rolling into him.  He will either cock his fist back to punch you or raise both to smash you.  While he does this, pull out your sword and lay blade in his gut, and you will eventually piss him off.  He will curl into a ball, so quickly put your sword away.  Grab hold of him as you did with other rolling Gorons and toss him into the lava.  He will leap back up, so repeat this two more times to finish him off.  Yes, two more times, I know this is a pain.

Goron Mines Boss - Twilit Ignitus Fyrus

This guy is quite large, and that growl of his in the beginning is intimidating, but let your courage shine forth!  The key here is the large gem on his forehead, shoot it with an arrow when you have plenty of breathing room, else he will send you flying.  Once you do, he will hold his forehead and pace around.  Grab the chain linked to his leg and equip the Iron Boots. Pull back on the chains. He will trip up, so quickly let go and run to his head.  Let him taste blade.  After a few quick cuts he will get back up.

Now, once he begins to get up, get your bow out and aim for the gem, though it isnt lit up.  Once it lights up, let an arrow rip.  Repeat this process twice more and he will be gone and back to his normal, uninfected state.

Lake Hylia Mini Boss - The Mother of All Bugs
This miniboss is pretty simple. You are Wolf Link for the entire battle.  Avoid getting hit by the bug so you dont loose health and have to tune your senses again.  Your gonna want to stay on land while she is in the water, or she will electricute you.  When she is above land, she will hover around to electrocute you, so avoid her when like this.  Once she is vunerable, attack her and keep biting.  She will flop back into the water.  She will eventually fall into the water on her back, so climb aboard.  Hold B for your multienemy attack and let it rip, finishing off the bug and collecting your last Tear of Light.

Lakebed Temple Miniboss - Giant Frog
This guy isn't too bad.  He will release a large swarm of tadpoles to attack you, so use your spin attack to rid of them quickly.  Once they are gone, the giant frog will leap into the air, so run around to avoid being smashed.  Attack its tongue once it lands to dish out some damage.  When the frog opens its mouth, toss a bomb in to do even more damage!  Once it collapses, start slicing at its tongue again.  Repeat as needed.

Lakebed Temple Boss - Twilit Aquatic Morpheel
Drop down into the water with the Iron Boots.  This boss is decently large, and you want to keep some distance, but enough so your clawshot can still reach.  Z target the eye and use the clawshot to pull it out, where you can beat on it with your sword.  If you get caught up by a tentacle, unequip the iron boots and swim away.

After you attack the eye a few times, the boss will reveal its full body.  You want to get rid of the Iron Boots and swim around now.  If you can manage to stay above and slightly behind the bosses head, you shouldn't have any problems, and this fight should be the easiest of all.  Target the eye again and hit it with the hookshot, which will pull you to its head so you can wail on it with your sword some more.  After several times around, Morpheel will die.

Arbiter's Grounds Mini Boss - Invisible Swordsman
No, that sword isn't floating! There are ropes holding it there, so cut one of the ropes to release the sword. Turn into Wolf form and use your senses to see an what you're up against; an invisible swordsman. Attack as Wolf Link until he becomes visible and flys around the room.  Switch back to human form and dodge all attacks while firing arrows at him.  Once hit, he will come down.  HIt him with your sword and he will drop to the ground, leaving himself open for more attacks.  As soon as he gets back up, hit him with another arrow and repeat until you've defeated this under skilled swordsman.

Arbiter's Grounds Boss - Twilit Fossil Stallord

When you enter, head off to the skull in the middle of the room.  Zant will appear and use his magic to assemble Stallord.    Stallord will fight this half of the battle stuck in the mud.  Use the spinner along the track and attack its spine with B.  Bail from the track if there are spikes coming at you. Also, when you move in to the center to attack, there will be enemies that will rise from the ground the closer you get, so navigating to Stallord will be tough.   After enough blows, he will crumble and become just a skull.

Time for intermission. Use the spinner to raise the pillar here.  Once you do, Stallord's skull will come to life and knock you from the structure.  Notice, there are spiral tracks on both the pillar and arena wall.  Start spinning on the pillar track to follow Stallord and jump between tracks to avoid any attacks and objects.  When you get close to Stallord, jump to him and knock him to the floor where you can deal out damage with your sword.  Rinse, repeat, and conquer.

Snowpeak Ruins Mini Boss - Ball and Chain Knight
This can be a pretty tough battle. This guy will spend alot of time spinning the ball and chain, so it's diffecult to tell when he's due to throw the thing at you. When he does, run and roll to avoid being hit. Once he throws his weapon out and he is busy pulling his weapon back in, attack his tail. Now, repeat this process, and try to stay alive!

Avoid Being Hit
Sometimes, it's hard to avoid being hit in this battle. When the Ball and Chain trooper gets too close, watch the ball and chain he is spinning and roll beneath it to get away, but you have to time this right! Also, you might find your back to this fellow for most of the fight, making it hard to tell when he is attacking. Pay attention to the sound he makes when he attacks to figure out when to avoid an attack (shouldn't have this problem with the Game Cube version).

Snowpeak Ruins Boss - Twilit Ice Mass Blizzeta
Poor possessed Yeti, she is now a giant ice creature. I guess we know why she has been so sick. She will move around the room, so hit her with the ball and chain you acquired earlier on.  She will slowly grow smaller and let off other ice creatures.  Dodge them and keep up the attack to move to the second phase of the fight.

She will now form spikes around her and try to drop them on you.  Watch the floor to know where they are dropping.  Once they are all down, they will rise and form a circle.  Avoid that, as she will drop into the middle or the circle.  When she falls, let her have it with the ball and chain.  Do this three times and she is gone.

Tips to Stay Alive!
This can be a diffecult fight, because you may not have very many hearts. Remember, when she is dropping the large ice chunks on you, pay attention to the reflection in the ice and remember she will drop 7 large ice chunks before falling herself.

If you are in need of hearts, you can ignore her when she drops and focus on the large ice chunks. Each will give you a heart, and with each you destroy, that is one less she will drop on you!

Temple of Time Mini Boss - Knight Swordsmaster

This armored knight will move slow for the first half of the battle due to the the weight of his armor.  He will lunge to attack you, so avoid that and counter with your own attacks. This is a good fight to use your new techniques.  You will eventually knock off all his dead weight, making this a much harder fight.  His attacks now are more mellee styled, and he will block with his sword more often.  Attack after you avoid one of his attacks or try to use your new techniques.  Very useful attacks are the Back Slice and Mortal Draw!  Keep up the attack and he will fall.

Temple of Time Boss - Twilit Arachnid Armogohma
Gohma is looking nice this time around!  Or should I say, Armogohma.  She will fire a large laser which you need to run wildly from (zig zagging works well), and will drop smaller offspring.  You can kill them for hearts and arrows by using a spin attack.  Pay close attention to her, and once she opens her eye, hit it with an arrow (Gohma's weakness has always been the eye).  She will fall from teh ceiling.  Use the dominion rod to bring the nearby statue to life and smash her!  She will get back up and retreat to the ceiling so repeat this a few more times.  Eventually, she will be just an eye.  Take it out with arrows.

Pay Attention
You can tell where Armoghoma will be when she opens her eye by observing the ceiling she is walking. There are different shaded tiles where she will stop, which is also above one of the controllable statues.

City in the Sky Mini Boss - Dragon Warrior
This is the first dragon I've seen to weild a sword and shield... anyways, take aim with the clawshot.  When it holds the shield up, pull it toward you with the clawshot and attack with your sword.  After several hits, it will begin to fly around through the holes around the room.  Find out where he will come from and clawshot it again for more attacking.  Repeat this and claim your double clawshot.

City in the Sky Boss - Twilit Dragon Argorok
I don't know why, but this guy reminds me of Ridley.  This dragon will try to knock you from the arena using his wings to make wind gusts, so use the Iron Boots to stay planted.  Watch for him to swoop down and make his attacks and dodge them!  You want to pull this guys armor off, so when it swoops down, grab its tail with the clawshot and quickly equip the Iron Boots to bring him down.  This should destroy some armor.  Hint - You can try also grappling a pillar with the double clawshot then grappling its tail.

Now, once his armor is gone you will see the gem on its back.  Rain will also cause flying plants to emerge.  Use the clawshot to climb back and forth between pillars and reach the circle of plants.  When the dragon rears its head, use Z and grapple between plants to avoid its firey breathe.  Once the flames simmer, use the clawshot to draw into its back and attack the gem there.  Argorok will fall, so climb back up and repeat until dead.  Tough battle, eh?

Palace of Twilight - Zant First Battle

Zant's ghostly image will summon creatures.  Ignore them and go straight for him.  He will jump around the room, and if you can manage to hit him before he summons any creatures, you wont have to worry about them.  Keep this up, attacking him when you get the chance.

Palace of Twilight - Zant Second Battle

Zant will appear in ghostly form again with new enemies.   Fight as you did before and claim the Sol when you can.  After you defeat him this round, hurry along.

Palace of Twilight Boss - Usurper King Zant

Nice story behind Zant, isn't it?  Ok, down to business.  He will fire many enery shots at once, and you cant use shield deflect.  Prepare for 6 grooling rounds here...

First part - Forest Temple
As Zant hovers over the poisonous liquids, use the Gale Boomerang to draw him to you and lay into him with your sword.  Use your shield to block attacks and keep up the attack.

Second part - Goron Mines
Zant will jump up and down to knock you into the lava, so use the Iron Boots to stay planted.  When Zant starts to fire, take off the boots and attack while you have the chance.  Keep up the defense and offense here.

Third part - Underwater
You'll need Zora's Armor and the Iron Boots here.  Zant will appear in a giant helmet, and when the door opens, dodge his fire.  When you can, use the clawshot to draw him to you and lay sword into his arse.  Keep up the good work!

Fourth part - Forest Temple
Zant will hop around the baboon poles here this time.  Approach as he fires and slam his pole twice to make him fall off.   Once down, start attacking.  Keep it up, almost done!

Fifth part - Snowpeak Ruins
Get your ball and chain ready, and watch his shadow on the ground.  Once he comes down, hit a foot to make him shrink a bit.  Follow after him with your sword and keep up the good work!

Sixth part - Hyrule Castle
He will try to push you into the barriers here.   Attack him as he flails around.  Shortly, he will begin to spin like a top.  Block using your shield and stay clear of the edges here.  When he stops spinning and is dizzy, jump for your chance to get a few hits in.   He will begin to charge you swinging his sword, so block with your shield and lay into him when you can.  Shortly, you will have him finished off.  This battle is worth a pat on the back!
